1 W Saratoga St | 2-3 PM | History from the Middle of the Street - A Walking Tour for the Charles Street Promenade
Baltimore is kicking cars off of portions of Charles Street for a day, and we’re taking advantage of it! On Saturday, June 6, only pedestrians and bicycles will be allowed on a good portion of Charles Street between Saratoga and North Avenue as part of the Charles Street Promenade. Join Baltimore Heritage’s Executive Director, Johns Hopkins, on a stroll down the middle of the street to get a perspective that we normally don’t get of many of the city’s most interesting historic buildings. We’ll talk about some of Maryland’s oldest churches, take in architecture from Colonial Revival to Brutalist, and share stories from the founding of American philanthropy to the role rye whisky played in shaping more than a few beloved institutions…all from the middle of the street! -

Taking place throughout the day, this month’s event features an all LGBTQ+ DJ lineup with music outdoors from 12pm to 5:30pm across from Stem & Vine, followed by music back inside the shop from 5:30pm to 9pm. Guests can also explore local vendors set up along the street and inside the Stem & Vine atrium, shop plants outside the storefront, and enjoy outdoor bar service throughout the event.

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM // Source of All Hope - Sock and Hat Drive for the Homeless on the Basilica Front Lawn
Each Saturday, they offer a space to share a meal together on the Basilica’s front lawn, located at 409 Cathedral Street. As part of this meal, they allow attendees to request donations of clothes or small items they have on hand. As the summer months begin, it is always helpful to have extra baseball caps or other summer hats to give to friends who spend their days on the streets. New socks are one of the most requested items from those who Source missionaries encounter on the streets of Baltimore.

The activation will also include food-as-medicine inspired engagement, wellness education, and a simple question for the community: What does wellness look like to you?

At the Kennedy Krieger table, we will offer a variety of resources from our Nutrition Department on food access; information from our Nursing Department, including employment opportunities; Resource Finder flyers—a free program for individuals with disabilities, families, and professionals seeking resources related to intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities; details about our Department of Family and Community Interventions, which helps children and families affected by trauma and developmental disabilities recover, heal, and access necessary support and tools to reach their full potential; as well as employment opportunities and benefits from HR. Additionally, our Marketing Department will provide information about Kennedy Krieger's programs and achievements to raise awareness.

Meet Haus will bring a pop-up retail experience to the Charles Street Promenade, offering visitors the chance to shop directly and discover the brand in person. The centerpiece of the activation is the Mt. Vernon Candle, a fragrance built around the character and atmosphere of the neighborhood itself. Guests can explore the collection, experience the scents firsthand, and take home a piece of a Baltimore-rooted brand designed for spaces with real point of view.

MOCHA Lab will talk to patrons about the MOCHA Lab and the research at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Our two studies center on Black women's health; one is about sexual health education, and the other is about the impacts of chronic stress on resilience and physical health. Interested patrons will be able to scan our QR code and take the screener in real-time, with the option to schedule the baseline survey visit with us if eligible.

One Source Wellness Works will provide educational services and behavioral health resources, including Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) services, individual therapy, and family therapy, to support mental health wellness and recovery.
